The Balloons of Happiness
Max, a 9 year old boy lived with his mother in the city of Paris. His
mother was his world. His dad had expired when he was a kid.
His mother was a working woman who worked throughout the
day. She dedicated her weekend to Max. They would go out eat
ice-cream and have lot of fun. Max loved balloons. So every time
they went out his mother purchased a bunch of balloons for her
little prince. But this happiness did not remain for long time.
It was in the monsoon season. It was raining very heavily. It was
dark out. Max was all alone in the home eagerly waiting for his
mom to come home. It was late. He felt asleep while waiting for
his mom. His mom did not return home. She had met with an
accident and was no more. He was all alone in the world. This
little boy was very sad. He did not wanted to go to school or to
do any of the things. He just sat in the corner of this house
crying the whole day. There was a girl name Annie. She lived in
their neighborhood and she was familiar to this boy as they
waved wherever they passed each other.
Annie got to know about the boy and his mother and she was
shocked. But then she decided to take care of Max. She came to
his house and calmed him. Max did not give any response to
Annie. But she did not leave hope. Later Max was comforted
and started living with Annie. Their routine was Annie would
drop max to school in the morning and then go to her college.
Then in noon when she returned they spent time together.
But once max felt that he was a burden on Annie. He felt that
Annie is not happy being with him. So that noon he ran from the
house. When Annie came home she searched max everywhere.
But couldn’t find him. She became restless. She went out of the
house in search. Until then max went to the beach through the
market. Annie also went to the market and saw a balloon seller.
She remembered once Max told her that he loved balloons. So
she took some balloons for him. She lead her way to the beach.
She found a boy going towards the water. In order to rescues
him she went forward. But she came to know that it was Max.
She took him to the bench nearby and made him sit. She
enquired why he ran out of the house. Max said that he thought
he was a burden on her. No one liked him in school. They teased
him. Annie replied him that he was not a burden on her. She
loved him. And she asked Max to promise her that he will never
do like this ever again. She gave him the balloons she bought.
Max released them into the blue sky with happiness.
